The Russian-American Science Association (RASA) extends its heartfelt congratulations to an extraordinary scientist and physician, Professor Vladimir Lazarevich Zelman, on the occasion of his 90th birthday. A renowned neuroanesthesiologist, Professor Zelman graduated from the medical faculty of Novosibirsk Medical Institute, worked in Moscow under the Academy of Medical Sciences, and later moved to the United States, where he led the Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care at the University of California, Los Angeles. He is a foreign member of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the first recipient of the George Gamow Award, established by RASA in 2015 to honor distinguished members of the academic diaspora for their contributions to science and international collaboration.
