Philologist Mark Lipovetsky and biochemist Vadim Gladyshev receive 2021 George Gamow award
The George Gamow® Award, established by the Russian-American Science Association (RASA), was awarded in 2021 to
Mark Lipovetsky (Columbia University) – for original studies of modern Russian literature, in particular postmodernism, in a broad cultural context,
Vadim Gladyshev (Harvard University) – for characterization of selenoproteins and molecular mechanisms of aging, and for contribution to the development of collaborations across the borders.
The George Gamow® Award is awarded annually to members of the Russian-speaking scientific diaspora for outstanding contributions to science and is named after George Gamow, a great physicist and popularizer of science who worked in the USSR and the USA.
The award ceremony will take place in St. Petersburg, Florida during the 12th RASA Annual Conference, which will be held November 20-21, 2021.
